Customers must pay a grid utilisation charge to compensate the system operator for building, expanding and maintaining the grid etc. The rates for this charge are set in the annual Gas-Systemnutzungsentgelte-Verordnung (Gas System Charges Ordinance) and differentiate between grid areas and grid levels.
On our German pages, you’ll find examples of how much grid utilisation charge consumers with certain annual consumption levels pay (energy part and flat-rate, and for load-metered customers including the capacity part of the charge – which is why the figures given there do not correspond to the applicable rates but represent a price per kWh that results for a particular annual consumption).
