ELECTRICITY STATISTICS
The Austrian electricity statistics primarily contain market information. They also cover the energy balance. The full range of electricity statistics of E-Control is available from our German pages; only key information in English is posted here.
Electricity Balance
The monthly electricity balance relies on the first and second clearing for demand and supply, i.e. data which are collected on a quarter-hourly basis. The physical imports and exports, including all transits, are added at the same time resolution as are metered data on the injection into the public grid and the consumption for pumped storage of big power plants (i.e. exceeding an installed capacity of 25 MW). To these data, the monthly gross production of relevant plants with a capacity of at least 10 MW is added, allowing for a more detailed seasonal break-down of the production. On the consumption side the inclusion of own-use for production and pumping serves the same purpose.
The electricity statistics are therefore commodity balances based on the physical flows and cover Austrian territory.
Public Grid
The monthly balance for the public grid breaks the consumption down to final consumption. This corresponds to the final energy consumption according to the energy balance but in addition includes the electricity consumption of the energy sector(s).

Total Electricity Supply
In addition to data for the public grid, auto-producers, depending on their size, have to report monthly or annually the production, consumption and the exchange with the public grid. The production side is subdivided by type of power plant.
