Sewage and landfill gas
Much like biogas, sewage and landfill gas result when organic materials are fermented. Due to their high methane content, using these gases for electricity or heat generation is very environmentally friendly.
Historically, use of sewage and landfill gas for power generation began in the 1970s in the US. Europe followed a short period afterwards. Many government programmes and industry interest helped drive collection and use of these gases. The environmental agenda also fit well with this technology.
On our German pages you will find a list of websites that provide more in-depth information on power from sewage and landfill gas – technical details, potentials etc.
