The dual contract system

System access contract and supply contract
Contractual relationships of consumers with the system operator and the supplier
As a consumer of natural gas, you have a contract with both your natural gas supplier and your system operator.

With your system operator, you sign a so-called system access contract. The general terms and conditions governing the system access contract you conclude with your system operator are subject to regulatory approval by E-Control.

You also conclude a contract with your supplier. This contract ensures your supply. Some suppliers stipulate a minimum term of contract which must elapse before you can switch to a new supplier. Whether a supplier requires such a period or not must be stated in its offer or the general terms and conditions.

For household consumers, the minimum term of contract must not exceed one year. If you are not bound, you are free to switch suppliers at any time. For questions about your supply contract, it is best to contact your supplier directly.
